This past week, Myles Jury and Donald Cerrone had a bit of a twitter exchange, with 'Cowboy' suggesting that 'Fury' previously declined a bout with him for December. On social media, Dana White was asked if the match up would push through and the UFC president simply responded with 'Yes'.
White didn't go into detail as to when or where the bout would happen, but as for why he is putting the bout together, he plainly stated that "Cowboy wants to fight him".
Cerrone has a knack for being willing to step up against anyone in the division, and recently accepted a 'polite' twitter call out from Jorge Masvidal. It looks like they're going with the Alliance MMA product in Fury instead though.
Jury's manager, Ryan Hass also confirmed that the bout is already in the works, telling Fox Sports "We confirmed upon approach by the UFC, the date is all that has been needing worked out."
Both top ranked lightweights are currently on very impressive win streaks. Jury improved his immaculate record to 15-0 by being the first man to knock out Takanori Gomi, while Cerrone recently defeated Eddie Alvarez for his 5th straight win in the past 12 months.
If the deal gets finalized, it should provide for a fun scrap between two talented strikers. As with most of bouts involving either fighter though, I guess that already goes without saying.
