Lethal Truth
Asashoryu is the guy that made me love Sumo wrestling, since he left it, Sumo hasn't been even the shadow of what it was when he was on it.
The Japanese were very biased against him since he cared little for Sumo traditions like being emotionless inside the ring and outside of it, plus he was shattering all existing records set by the Japanese over millennia...now combine that with the fact that he is a foreigner and you have clear bias on him at the Sumo Association, it's no secret that Japanese are not fond of foreigners.
Sure Asashoryu behaved like a bad boy, but there were also other Yokozuna that behaved just as bad if not worse.
And they were NEVER forced to retire like he did, there was one Yokozuna who beat his wife and another one who even was involved in corruption scandals that got him to court after he retired...but he was never even pressured to retire by the Association like they did with Asashoryu.
I think they were just salty that a foreigner that came out of nowhere was smashing all their records and had even ascended to the top of Sumo at such a fast rate, so they decided to make his life miserable.
Asashoryu is the best for many good reasons, and that has the old Japanese farts in the Sumo Association salty.
Mad respect for Asashoryu, he's a Mongolian hero and a legend.

Takayasu Monstro.
